Part of the fun of Christmas is the big day set aside for turkey, too much wine, presents, chocolate and quality family time..we all know most people could do without so much of the latter and I am no exception but after 3, back-to-back Christmas celebrations and enough chocolate to replenish my ’stash’ five times over I am about ready to sleep for the next two weeks. I have to say Christmas day Mark III with the adopted family was the most fun of the bunch simply because this family are the only family I know not to launch into full scale war over a game of ‘buzz’ heh.
It’s a little bit late to wish you all merry holiday but hey, enjoy the rest of ‘06 and see y’all in ‘07.

From Hallmark to mew.
Sometimes I am so suprised by the marketing ploys going on at this time of year I have to share, so, I give you this:

Seriously, people give cards to their pets?! What you can’t see here (and believe me, it almost killed me in the shop) was the little poem underneath which said something like ‘You are the most darling, loving cat and the love for you will go on forever..’ I had to stop, the tears ya know?
I totally get the idea behind buying your pet a present, it’s something fun for them to unwrap, chew the crap out of/eat/sleep in etc and gives them some fun, but unless your pet enjoys opening up a hallmark card, reading the stirring words inside, and then placing it lovingly on the mantlepiece so it can gaze at it as it dozes off then I think it might just be lost on them dontcha think?
Stick to buying them chew toys or gigantic beds.

The sheep did it.
I decided today that I was going to take out insurance on my room while I am away. This stems from the fact that last year a large portion of the kitchen ceiling and attic decided to collapse thanks to a leak that sprung up while we were away for the holiday. Since I have a few things I love a little too much such as my computer, guitar and amp I thought it would be best to protect from dodgy landlord/house building syndrome just incase something else cropped up.
While I was reading through the policy I noticed a clause which reads ‘Damage cause by animals hitting the exterior of the building in which the term-time address is situated’ and I laughed out loud. I asked the guy how often someone would claim because of damage caused by say, an errant sheep wondering into the brickwork and he rolled his eyes and said that I would be suprised to how often people tried it.
Seriously, the mind boggles.
Now if you will excuse me I have a herd of camels I need to send in this direction..

Lights.
It always strikes me as funny how you can live in a place for awhile and just become immune to how nice it actually is. Recently, with the arrivel of the holiday season the town where I live has been dressing itself up nicely for the thousands of tourists and on one of my many procrastination breaks from endless Uni work I realised that it is looking pretty damn good. I even felt a twinge of Christmas spirit as I wondered around the Catherdral grounds but that was soon put out. I am very much in bah humbug mode. It didn’t stop me from enjoying the lights, cold night air and hot chocolate as I walked around though, it’s my favourite part of winter.
I leave to go back home for a few weeks this Friday and although my brain will welcome the chance to refresh itself from the tedium of work I do wish I could stay here and wait for the inevitable snow fall, grab my camera and frolick like a small child..
Anyway, this isn’t much of an update but I find something more interesting once Uni finishes and free thinkining is allowed again heh. Below the line are some of the pictures from the evening.
