Moo-vies

Filed under: Blog meh, Day-to-day — Debbie @ 7:55 pm

Right now I am feeling in the spirit of Christmas and all I want to do is wake up tomorrow, put on my comfortable around-the-house clothes and watch the following movies back to back.

1. The Holiday

2. Love Actually

3 Home Alone 1&2

4. Elf

5. Ghostbusters

6. A Christmas Story

7. Miracle on 34th St.

8. Jason & the Argonauts

9.  Clash of the Titans

10. Imagine Me and You.

Sadly I have two weeks to get in a giant pile of Uni work so it’s not going to happen.

But soon my pretty. Soon.

Everyday on the way to and from the office at lunchtime I have to pass the hottest bike porn.

Who wouldn’t want a piece of that action?

I *did* like the storms.

Did I ever tell you that the windows on my house which overlook the sea are in really bad shape because of they are Victorian, constantly battered by the sea storms and haven’t been maintained over the years?

Such bad shape that you might just wake up and walk into the second bedroom only to find it is now raining INSIDE the house because the holes in the frames have gotten so big it’s not just wind that gets through any more? Infact if I were to go put my body weight againt the frame I am pretty confident that I could push the whole thing out it has rotten so bad.

That is what I found this morning. Jealous?

Soup!

When the weather is miserable outside, when your work mate is being an especially big douche bag and when your throat feels like you ate razor blades for breakfast then the greatest thing on this planet is hot soup from the deli down the street.

It might not cure you of the douche bag but it will help you feel less like forcing his head through the shredder.

Also, yes, I am aware my blog seems to be a mash up of tumblr, flickr and twitter at the moment but I don’t really care. I shall continue to subject you all regardless.

Canterbury 012

So about that attempt at Christmas shopping yesterday..Total failure. I managed to spend 2 hours wondering around Canterbury and walked away without purchasing anything. Except food. For myself.

I have opted to give everyone a hug for Christmas. Print out this blog post and present to your nearest me to redeem your hug. Coupon is non-transferable and has a cash value of 0.00001 pence.

By 10.47 I had run 10km, I had also shaved 3 minutes off of my finish time which I am really proud of. The runs are all on flat terrain (living at sea level and all) so I need to find a way to work some hills into the routine because I hear that the Paris half marathon has some killer hills.

Unfortunately I felt every single one of those km’s this morning so it might be awhile before I work in some hills.

My Dr says one of the reasons I am picking up so many injuries is that I don’t stretch enough before or after. I argued that usually by the time I get home I can barely crawl across the threshold of my house so couldn’t possibly stretch. He laughed and said I was doomed.  I am pretty sure Dr’s aren’t allowed to say that right?

Post run I am now going for the worlds best shower followed by Christmas shopping because I am determined to be ahead of the game this year.

Things that upset me.

The fact that THREE TIMES this year I have walked into a shop and found products I needed to purchase way cheaper than the same product online. Not just a little cheaper either, one was over £100 cheaper in my local store than Amazon.

When did this happen? When did retail fight back? Also why the fuck does Amazon keep changing it’s prices for the same product on an almost daily basis. £16 for a Nike + the other day and then £20 yesterday and today it is £21.

Mostly I am pissed off because I have to burn calories walking round the stores like it is 1990 instead of doing it all from home.

Hi!

It is important to remember that, as a sufferer of allergies, never congratulate yourself on making it through almost half of June without allergy symptoms and..could it possibly be that maybe this year you won’t get hayfever?? Because by the time your brain has finished having this thought an entire nations worth of pollen will punch you in the face and laugh as you writhe round on the floor begging it to stop.

Demoralising

Although times are tough in the Estate agent business we managed a very lucky couple of months and managed to sell a block of 8 apartments which exchanged on Monday. In time for payday.

Good news! Until your eyes drop to the bottom of the payslip and see that between national insurance, income tax and student loan repayments 86% of your bonus just went to the Government.

I can’t quite begin to describe the feeling you get from that.

I am going to take the 14% remaining and go spend it in some other fucking country because I think mine has already had enough of my money for now.

Oxford.

Spring was being all springy this past week and working a 6 day week meant that I did more than my fair share of watching people walking around in the sun eating ice cream and having happy spring moments. So when it came to Sunday and spring was STILL here a roadtrip was very much in order. Only a mini one..to Oxford. But still! Time spent outside of Kent is always a bonus!

I used to live in Oxford about 7 years ago (which really makes me feel old now) and I never really thought it was up to much but as usual, I was wrong. It is a really fantastic place in the right weather. Filled with amazing buildings and floppy haired English aristocrats.

Other highlights include a fantastic meal at Jamie Oliver’s restaurant which was also surprisingly good value for money AND the most fantastic milkshake in the universe where you can pick from thousands of different chocolates, sweets, biscuits and so on. I had mine made out of soy milk, parma violets and millions which then meant I spent the rest of the afternoon wondering around on a sugar high. It may also explain my brief flirtation with the idea of hiring a punt and trying to punt my way back to Kent.

Here are some pretty buildings for you to look at!
